01Choosing a voice
Levantine Arabic (Shami) is soft, melodic and widely understood, thanks to Syrian and Lebanese drama and dubbing. Choose the country of your audience: Lebanese, Syrian and Jordanian voices each sound like home to their own viewers.
Shami scripts read naturally with everyday words: “شو” (what), “هلق” (now), “كتير” (very), “منيح” (good). For formal content, write Modern Standard Arabic and keep the Levantine voice.
