01Choosing a voice
Khaleeji Arabic is spoken along the Gulf coast and shares much with Saudi speech, but each country has its own colour: Emirati, Kuwaiti, Qatari, Omani and Bahraini voices sound distinct to locals. Choose the country of your audience; for one version across the Gulf, keep the wording neutral.
Gulf scripts have their own everyday words: “شو” (what) in the Emirates, “شلون” (how) in Kuwait, and “ج” where other dialects say “ك” when speaking to a woman (“بالج” for “بالك”). Write the way your audience speaks, or use Modern Standard Arabic for formal content.
