01How it works

Three steps, start to finish.

  1. Step 1

    Record or describe

Upload a minute or two of clear speech, or write a description: age, accent, tone, character.

  2. Step 2

    Confirm and listen

Cloning asks you to confirm the speaker's consent. Designing gives you three takes to choose from.

  3. Step 3

    Use it anywhere

Your voice appears beside the library's in every project, the voice changer and the API.

04Questions

Before you start.

Your own, or the voice of someone who has given you permission. Cloning asks you to confirm that consent every time. Cloning someone without it, or using a voice to impersonate or deceive, is against our terms and gets the voice removed.

A minute or two of clear, natural speech in a quiet room. Read as you'd like the voice to sound; more varied material gives a more flexible voice.

Yes. Cloned voices can read other languages, keeping the character of the original voice.

It belongs to your account. Nobody else can see it or use it, and you can delete it whenever you like.

There are two ways to get a voice that's yours alone: clone a real voice from a recording, or design a new one from a description. This guide explains both, how to get good results, and the rules that keep cloning safe.

Cloning: what you need

A minute or two of clear, natural speech is enough. Record in a quiet room, keep a consistent distance from the microphone, and read something with a natural range of sentences, not a list of words. Avoid music, other voices and heavy room echo; if the recording is noisy, run it through noise removal first.

Read in the style you want the clone to have. A clone of a calm, measured reading will sound calm and measured.

Designing a voice from a description

When the voice you need doesn't exist, describe it: age, gender, accent, texture and character. “A young woman with a soft Irish accent, bright and slightly breathless.” You get three takes, each read aloud, and keep the one that fits. A design costs 700 credits for the three.

The more specific the description, the closer the result. Mention how they speak (pace, energy) as well as how they sound.

Using your voices

Cloned and designed voices appear alongside the library's in every project, in the voice changer and through the API. Speaking in them costs 5 credits a word.

Keeping voices

Cloning is free. Each paid plan keeps a number of your own voices at no charge, from 1 on Starter to 30 on Business; beyond that, a voice costs 2,000 credits a month to keep. Your voices are private to your account, or your team on Pro and Business, and you can delete them at any time.
