Tools · Sound effects
Type a sound. Drop it in the mix.
Describe it the way you hear it, from “rain on a window” to “a crowd cheering in a stadium”, and get up to three takes to choose from. It lands on its own lane, with a level you can set.
01How it works
Three steps, start to finish.
- Step 1
Describe it
A sentence is enough. Set the length up to 30 seconds, or let Leelo choose.
- Step 2
Pick a take
Ask for up to three at once and keep the one that fits. Make it loop for ambience.
- Step 3
Mix it in
Add it to a project on its own lane, set the level, and export one mix.
02Made for
Where people use it.

04Questions
Before you start.
Sound is half of what makes a scene feel real, and the effect you need is rarely the one a stock library has. Here's how to describe sounds so you get what you hear in your head, and how to mix them under voices.
Describe what you hear
Be specific about the source, the space and the action. “Rain” is vague; “heavy rain on a car roof, inside the car” is a sound. Mention distance (close, far away), environment (a cathedral, a small kitchen) and texture (metallic, muffled, crisp).
- “Footsteps on gravel, slow, a single person walking away.”
- “A crowd cheering in a stadium, distant, from outside.”
- “An old wooden door creaking open slowly.”
Length, loops and takes
Set the length from half a second to 30 seconds, or let Leelo choose one that suits the sound. Turn on looping for ambience such as rain, room tone and crowds, so it can run under a whole scene. Ask for up to three takes at once and keep the best.
Mixing under voices
In the Studio, each sound sits on its own lane. Keep ambience well below the voice. If you have to strain to hear the words, it's too loud. Let spot effects (a door, a notification) peak briefly between lines rather than under them.
Costs and rights
Sound effects cost 20 credits a second for each take, with a minimum of 100. Like everything you make, they can be used commercially on any paid plan.
