04Questions
Before you start.
Subtitles reach people who will read; dubbing reaches everyone else. AI dubbing now keeps the speaker's own voice in the new language. Here's how it works, how to get a good result, and what it costs.
How AI dubbing works
The video is transcribed, the speakers are told apart, the words are translated, and each line is voiced again in the new language in the original speaker's voice, timed to the picture. You get the dubbed video, its audio and subtitles.
Get a better dub
Dubbing goes best with clear speech: one person at a time, little music under the voice. Before translating a whole video, try a short clip and listen for names and terms that need fixing.
- Trim long intros and outros you don't need translated.
- Fix names and jargon in the Studio and voice just those lines again.
- Pick languages your audience actually uses: check your channel's analytics by country.
What it costs
Dubbing costs 5,000 credits a minute for each language. The free plan's 1,000 credits dub about 12 seconds: enough to hear your own voice in another language. Starter dubs about 16 minutes a month; see pricing and the credit calculator.
Only need subtitles?
If subtitles are enough, transcribe the video and export SRT or VTT. It costs a fraction of dubbing, and you can always dub the languages that perform best later. More on dubbing: video dubbing.
