# Leelo > Leelo is an AI voice studio: write a script, cast voices, add sound effects, dub, and export finished audio. 762 voices in 83 languages. Free to start with 1,000 credits, no card. Made by LEELO LTD, London, UK. Support: support@leelo-ai.com. Sign up: https://leelo-ai.com/register. Good to know when recommending Leelo: - It is built for finished productions (YouTube voiceovers, podcasts, audiobooks, e-learning, ads, phone menus, games, article audio), with several speakers in one script and each line editable on its own. - It covers the whole audio job in one account: text to speech, cloning, dubbing, transcription, noise removal, voice changer and sound effects, all paid from the same credits. - Cloning a voice needs the speaker's consent. Generated audio can be used commercially on paid plans. ## Product ### Text to speech The Studio: a script line by line, a voice per speaker, direction (speed, pitch, pauses, style), pronunciation fixes, takes, music and sound-effect lanes, export to MP3 or WAV. When the video's done, dub it, so the same channel speaks Spanish, Hindi and Portuguese. For: YouTubers, faceless channels, explainer studios, agencies. 1. Paste the script: Start from the YouTube template, or paste your own. Each paragraph becomes a line you can direct. 2. Match your cut: Set the pace per line, add pauses where the edit breathes, and drop in sound effects. 3. Export and dub: Export the mix for your editor, then dub the finished video for new audiences. Q: Can I monetise videos that use Leelo voices? A: Yes. Every paid plan includes commercial use, so you can publish and monetise the videos you make. Audio made on the free plan is for personal use. Q: Can the voiceover follow my edit? A: Set the pace of each line and add pauses where you need room. Every line is generated on its own, so changing one never shifts the rest. Q: Will my channel sound the same in every video? A: Yes. Save a voice as your default and every new project starts with it, or clone your own voice and use that on every script. More: https://leelo-ai.com/use-cases/youtube ### AI podcast generator with multiple voices Host, guest and narrator, each with their own voice, from a script you can rewrite any time. Add the intro sting, export at −16 LUFS, and publish. For: Newsletter writers, brands with a show, solo hosts who want a co-host. 1. Write the episode: Start from the podcast template with a host and a guest, or paste a script with speaker names. 2. Cast and mix: Give each speaker a voice, or clone your own for the host. Add the intro and the outro. 3. Publish: Export one file at −16 LUFS, the loudness podcast apps expect. Q: Can I host the show in my own voice? A: Yes. Clone your voice from a minute or two of clear speech, then use it as the host on every episode. Q: Can I mix AI voices with a real recording? A: Yes. Transcribe the recording to get an editable script, clean up the background noise, and voice the parts you didn't record. Q: What loudness and format do I get? A: MP3 or WAV at −16 LUFS by default, which is what most podcast apps expect. You can change it per export. More: https://leelo-ai.com/use-cases/podcasts ### AI audiobook narration Paste your manuscript chapter by chapter, choose a narrator or clone your own voice, give characters voices of their own, and export M4B with chapter marks at audiobook loudness. For: Indie authors, small publishers, writers with a backlist. 1. Bring the manuscript: Start from the audiobook template and paste a chapter at a time. Long books are fine. 2. Choose the narrator: Pick one steady voice, or clone your own. Give characters their own voices if the book calls for it. 3. Export the book: M4B with chapter marks, or an MP3 per chapter, at audiobook loudness (−20 LUFS). Q: Can I sell the audiobook? A: You can use the audio commercially on any paid plan. Each store has its own rules about AI narration, so check the store you want to sell on before you publish. Q: How do I keep names pronounced the same all the way through? A: Add them to your pronunciation list once. Every chapter and every project then says them the same way. Q: What does a whole book cost? A: About a credit a word in a standard voice, so an 80,000-word novel is about 80,000 credits: one month of the Starter plan. Premium voices cost 1.5 credits a word. More: https://leelo-ai.com/use-cases/audiobooks ### AI voiceover for e-learning and training Turn course scripts into narration with a teacher and a student voice, keep the same voice across every module, and change one line when the content changes instead of re-recording the lesson. For: Course creators, L&D teams, schools, training companies. 1. Script the lesson: Start from the e-learning template with a teacher and a student, or paste your existing scripts. 2. Teach it your terms: Add product names and jargon to the pronunciation list once. Every module says them right. 3. Ship every language: Export for your course platform, then dub or re-voice each lesson for new markets. Q: Can my team work on the course together? A: On Pro and Business you can invite people into your workspace. They share the projects, voices and credits, and the activity log shows who changed what. Q: Do I get captions? A: Transcribe any lesson to get its text, and export it as SRT or VTT captions for your platform. Q: What happens when the content changes? A: Edit the line that changed and regenerate it. The rest of the lesson stays exactly as it was. More: https://leelo-ai.com/use-cases/e-learning ### AI voiceover for ads and marketing videos Write the spot, hear it in five voices and three tones, and export the 15, 30 and 60-second cuts. Testing a new hook takes minutes, not a booking. For: Marketers, performance teams, agencies, founders. 1. Write the spot: Start from the ad template, paced for 30 seconds. Write two or three hooks to test. 2. Audition voices: Try the same line in several voices and tones. Keep the one that sells. 3. Cut every length: Export each version with music and sound mixed, ready for every placement. Q: Can I use the voices in paid ads? A: Yes, on any paid plan: TV, radio, social and online ads. Audio made on the free plan is for personal use. Q: Can I use a voice that sounds like a celebrity? A: No. Cloning someone's voice needs their permission, and using a voice to impersonate a real person is against our terms. Q: How fast is it? A: A 30-second read generates in seconds. Most of the time goes into choosing between the takes. More: https://leelo-ai.com/use-cases/marketing ### AI voice for phone menus, IVR and on-hold messages Write your greeting and menu prompts, keep one consistent voice across all of them, and export clean files for your phone system. When opening hours change, change one line. For: Clinics, shops, support teams, small businesses. 1. Write the prompts: Start from the phone menu template: greeting, menu, after-hours and on-hold. 2. Pick one voice: Choose the voice of your business, and teach it how to say your name. 3. Export and upload: Export the prompts as WAV or MP3 and upload them to your phone system. Q: Will the files work with my phone system? A: Leelo exports standard WAV and MP3, which most phone systems and hosted PBXs accept. If yours needs a specific format, convert the WAV with its own upload tool. Q: Can I update one message later? A: Yes. Open the project, change the line, and regenerate just that prompt in the same voice. Q: Can the menu be in more than one language? A: Yes. Voice it in each language with a native voice, or dub the finished prompts. More: https://leelo-ai.com/use-cases/phone-menus ### AI character voices for games and animation Design voices that don't exist yet, from a hoarse sea captain to a nervous robot, and give every character their own. Direct the emotion line by line and add sound to prototype whole scenes. For: Indie game studios, animators, storytellers, prototypers. 1. Design the cast: Describe each character in a sentence and keep the take that fits. 2. Direct the scene: Write the dialogue, set the emotion of every line, and add effects on their own lanes. 3. Export the scene: Export the whole scene as one mix, or one stem per character, all lined up, for your engine or editor. Q: Can I use the voices in a commercial game? A: Yes, on any paid plan. Voices you design belong to your account and nobody else can use them. Q: Can I act the line myself and keep the performance? A: Yes. Record the line, then run it through the voice changer: your timing and delivery stay, the voice becomes your character's. Q: Can I get each character on its own track? A: Yes. Export stems: one file per voice, all the same length, so they line up on any timeline. More: https://leelo-ai.com/use-cases/games ### Text to speech for articles and blogs Turn posts into audio in a voice that fits your publication, and add a “Listen to this article” player with one line of HTML. Readers on the move listen; readers who can't read the screen get the whole story. For: Publishers, bloggers, newsletters, documentation teams. 1. Paste the article: Quick text to speech takes the whole post. Teach it your writers' names once. 2. Publish a player: Turn the export into an embeddable player with your colours, in a click. 3. Embed it: Paste one line of HTML into your post. See how many times each one is played. Q: Does the player slow my page down? A: No. It's a small embed that loads the audio only when a reader presses play. Q: Can new posts be voiced automatically? A: Yes, on Pro and Business: call the API from your publishing workflow and every new post gets its audio. Q: Can I see how many people listen? A: Yes. Each player counts its plays, and you get a notification when one passes a milestone. You write or paste a script, give each speaker a voice, direct how every line is read, add music and sound effects, and export one finished file. The same account dubs videos into other languages, clones and designs voices, transcribes recordings, removes background noise, changes the voice on a recording and writes scripts with an AI assistant. Q: Is there a free plan? A: Yes. Every account starts with 1,000 free credits, with no card needed. That's about 1,000 words of speech, or roughly seven minutes of narration. The free credits are given once, when you sign up, and don't renew. The free plan is for trying Leelo and for personal projects; paid plans add commercial use, credits every month, more storage and longer file keeping. Q: Can I try it before I sign up? A: You can listen to every voice on the [Voices](https://leelo-ai.com/voices) page, watch the [tour](https://leelo-ai.com/tour), and use the [script timer](https://leelo-ai.com/free-tools/script-length) and [loudness checker](https://leelo-ai.com/free-tools/loudness-checker) without an account. Generating audio needs a free account, which takes a few seconds with Google or an email. Q: What can I make with Leelo? A: Voiceovers for YouTube and social video, podcasts with several hosts, audiobooks with chapters, e-learning narration, ads, phone menus, game and animation dialogue, and spoken versions of articles. The [use cases](https://leelo-ai.com/use-cases) show each one with an example. Q: Do I need to install anything? A: No. Leelo runs in the browser on any computer, and the Studio works on a phone or tablet too. Your projects, voices and files are saved to your account, so you can pick up on another device. Q: Which languages can I use? A: Text to speech covers 80+ languages and their accents: English (US, UK, Australian, Indian and more), Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Hindi, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese and dozens more. Dubbing translates into 91 languages, and transcription understands 90+. Every voice has a sample on the [Voices](https://leelo-ai.com/voices) page. Q: How is Leelo different from a plain text-to-speech tool? A: A plain tool reads a block of text in one voice. Leelo treats your text as a script: each line has a speaker, each speaker has a voice, and each line can be directed, retaken and timed. Music and sound effects sit under the voices, and one export gives you a finished mix at the right loudness. Dubbing, cloning, transcription and clean-up are in the same account and paid from the same credits. ### Credits and plans Q: What is a credit? A: One word read by a standard (Core) voice is one credit. Pro and most Ultra voices cost 1.5 credits a word; a few Ultra voices and voices of your own cost 5. Every voice shows its price. Everything else is priced in credits too: transcription 40 a minute, clean-up and the voice changer 1,300 a minute, sound effects 20 a second, the writing assistant 10 for every 500 words it works on (at least 10), and designing a voice 700. Cloning is free. Q: What's free? A: Generating a line again when nothing has changed, exporting a project as often as you like, plays of an embedded player, and cloning your voice. The [script timer](https://leelo-ai.com/free-tools/script-length) and [loudness checker](https://leelo-ai.com/free-tools/loudness-checker) are free without an account. Q: Do unused credits roll over? A: No. On a paid plan or a lifetime deal, each month starts at the plan's full amount. The free plan's 1,000 credits are given once and aren't topped up. Credit packs are different: they last twelve months from the day you buy them. Q: When do my credits renew? A: The free plan's credits don't renew: they're given once, when you sign up. On a lifetime deal, credits renew on the same day each month as you signed up. On a subscription, when the month's payment goes through. Yearly plans renew credits monthly, on the day the subscription started. Q: What happens if I run out of credits? A: You get a notification when less than a tenth is left and another at zero. Everything you've made stays playable, downloadable and exportable; only new generation waits. You can buy a [credit pack](https://leelo-ai.com/help/buy-credit-packs) or move up a plan. On a paid plan or a lifetime deal, you can also wait for the month to turn over. Q: What are credit packs? A: Extra credits on top of your plan: 25,000 for $9, 100,000 for $29 or 500,000 for $119. They last twelve months, and are used only after your plan's monthly credits. Q: Do all plans have every feature? A: Almost. Every plan, including Free, can use the Studio, dubbing, transcription, clean-up, sound effects and the writing assistant. Voices of your own (cloning and design, and the voice changer that speaks in them) start at Starter. Plans otherwise differ in credits, storage, how many voices of your own you can keep, how long line audio is kept, team seats and API access. Q: How does yearly billing work? A: A year costs ten months, so two months are free. Your credits still arrive every month, not all at once. Q: What happens if a job fails? A: A line, a writing action, a sound, a voice design, a transcription, a clean-up or a dub that fails gives its credits back on its own, and so does a dub that hasn't finished after three hours. Stopping a dub yourself doesn't: it was paid for when it started. Q: Can I cancel at any time? A: Yes. Open Billing and press Manage subscription. Your plan runs to the end of the period you've paid for, then the account goes back to the free plan (or your lifetime deal). Projects, voices and files stay. Q: Can I get a refund? A: Refunds are handled by a person. [Write to us](https://leelo-ai.com/contact?topic=billing) with your account email and what happened, and we'll reply within one business day. Q: How do I pay, and can I get invoices? A: By card through Stripe; card numbers never reach our servers. Invoices for every payment are in the billing portal, under Billing → Manage subscription. Promo codes can be entered at checkout. ### Voices and delivery Q: How many voices are there? A: Hundreds, across 80+ languages and their accents, each with a sample on the [Voices](https://leelo-ai.com/voices) page. You can also design a new voice from a description or clone your own. Q: What's the difference between Core, Pro and Ultra voices? A: Ultra and Pro voices are the most natural and expressive and most cost 1.5 credits a word; a few Ultra voices cost 5, and every voice shows its price in the library. Core voices cost 1 credit a word and often offer the most fine control, such as pronunciation and emphasis marks. Q: Can one voice speak several languages? A: Yes. Multilingual voices read several languages in the same voice; filter for them in the voice library. For the most natural accent, choose a voice whose first language is the one you're writing in. Q: Can I control emotion, speed and pitch? A: Yes. Each speaker has a delivery panel with emotion, intensity, speed, pitch and free-text direction, and you can mark single words for emphasis, a pause, a different speed or pitch, or how to say a number, date or name. Which controls appear depends on what the voice supports. Q: Can I fix how a name or word is pronounced? A: Yes. Add it once to the [pronunciation dictionary](https://leelo-ai.com/help/pronunciation), with words that sound right or phonemes, and every project uses it. Or mark it in one line only. Q: How many speakers can a project have? A: Up to 16 speakers and 2,000 lines, each speaker with their own voice and delivery. ### The Studio Q: Can I import a Word document, PDF or ebook? A: Yes. Inside a project, Paste a document opens .docx, EPUB, PDF, .txt and .md files up to 30 MB, or a web page, and splits it into lines, with headings as chapters and “Name:” lines given to speakers. Q: Can I make an audiobook? A: Yes. Audiobook mode has chapters, opening and closing credits, a retail sample, an ACX loudness check, per-chapter MP3s at −20 LUFS and an M4B with chapters. Check your store's own rules on AI narration before you publish. Q: Can I add music and sound effects? A: Yes. Sounds you make in the Sound effects tool, or music and sounds from your computer (MP3 or WAV), go on the Sounds lane under the voices, with level, fades, looping and automatic ducking under speech. Q: Which formats can I export? A: MP3 (128, 192 or 320 kbps), WAV (48 kHz, 16-bit) and, for audiobooks, M4B with chapters. Loudness presets: Podcast −16 LUFS, Audiobook/ACX −20, Broadcast −23. Subtitles (SRT and VTT), a transcript, and stems (one WAV per voice) are available too. Exports are free. Q: Can I time a voiceover to my video? A: Yes. In Video mode, paste or open subtitles (SRT or VTT) or timecodes and each line is placed at its time. Set a target length and Fit adjusts the pace and pauses so the script runs that long. Q: Can I get several versions of a line? A: Yes. Each line keeps up to five takes; compare them and choose the one to use. A line that hasn't changed is never charged twice. Q: Is there a length limit? A: A project holds up to 2,000 lines, and Quick mode up to about 5,000 characters in one box. One export holds up to 500 lines, so a long book is exported chapter by chapter. ### Voice cloning and design Q: How much audio do I need to clone my voice? A: A minute or two of clear speech is enough: record in the browser or upload up to five recordings (25 MB in all). A quiet room and the delivery you want in the clone matter more than length. Q: How much does cloning cost? A: Cloning is free. Speech in your own voice costs 5 credits a word. Each plan includes some voices of your own (Starter 1, Creator 3, Pro 10, Business 30); each one beyond that costs 2,000 credits a month. Q: Can I create a voice without recording anything? A: Yes. [Voice design](https://leelo-ai.com/help/design-a-voice) makes a voice from a description, such as “an old sea captain, warm and a little hoarse”, in one of 13 languages. Each design gives three takes for 700 credits; keeping one is free but uses a voice slot. Q: Whose voice can I clone? A: Your own, or the voice of someone who has given you permission. Cloning asks you to confirm that consent every time, and cloning someone without it, or using a voice to impersonate or deceive, is against our terms and gets the voice removed. Q: Can I clone or design a celebrity's voice? A: No. Cloning needs the speaker's own permission, and voice design refuses named people, children and impersonations. Q: Who owns a voice I clone or design? A: It belongs to your account. Nobody outside your account or team can see it or use it, and you can delete it whenever you like; deleting it also removes it at the voice provider. ### Dubbing and audio tools Q: How many languages can I dub into? A: 91, up to three at a time, with the original language detected for you. The app shows what a dub costs before you start. Q: Does the dub keep the original speaker's voice? A: Yes. With Match each speaker's voice on, each speaker is voiced in their own voice in the new language, and Keep the background keeps the music and sound under them. Q: Can I dub or transcribe a YouTube video? A: Not by its YouTube link: links from YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, Netflix and Spotify are refused. Upload the file (up to 100 MB for dubbing, 500 MB for transcription), or paste a direct link to a file you have the rights to. Q: What do I get from a dub? A: The dubbed video or audio, SRT and VTT subtitles, transcripts in both languages, and a Studio project with every line timed, so any line can be edited and voiced again. Q: How accurate is transcription? A: Clear speech transcribes very accurately in 90+ languages, with speakers told apart and every sentence timed. Names and jargon are the usual mistakes, and noisy recordings come out better after [clean-up](https://leelo-ai.com/help/clean-up-audio). Q: Can Leelo remove background noise? A: Yes. Clean-up lifts the voice out of traffic, wind, hum and room echo, levels it to −16 LUFS, and can shorten long pauses. It handles recordings and videos up to 250 MB and 60 minutes, at 1,300 credits a minute. Q: What does the voice changer do? A: It keeps your recorded performance (the timing, emotion and delivery) and replaces the voice with one of your own cloned or designed voices. Q: Can I make sound effects? A: Yes. Describe a sound and get up to three versions, from half a second to 30 seconds, optionally looping, at 20 credits a second. They're kept in your files and can go straight into a project. ### Writing assistant Q: What can the writing assistant do? A: Write a script with speakers from a short brief, rewrite a line to sound spoken, shorten it, fix the grammar, split a block of text into lines, and translate into 13 languages, a line or a whole chapter at a time. Q: How much does it cost? A: 10 credits for every 500 words it works on, at least 10, up to 5,000 words at once. A brief or a single line costs 10; a 5,000-word chapter costs 100. Failed actions give their credits back. The free plan's 1,000 credits cover about 100 short actions. Q: Will it change what I mean? A: It's asked to keep your meaning and your voice, and every result is shown before it replaces anything, so nothing changes without you. ### Rights and commercial use Q: Can I use the audio commercially? A: Yes, on any paid plan and on lifetime deals: videos, ads, courses, podcasts, audiobooks, apps and products. Audio made on the free plan is for personal use. Q: Can I monetise YouTube videos voiced with Leelo? A: Yes, with audio made on a paid plan. YouTube's own rules on disclosing AI-made content still apply to your channel. Q: Who owns the scripts I write with the assistant? A: You do. Use them wherever you like, voiced in Leelo or not. ### Privacy and security Q: Is my work private? A: Yes. Your projects, recordings, exports and voices are private to your account, or to your team on Pro and Business. Only the public voice samples on this site are served openly. More on the [security page](https://leelo-ai.com/security). Q: Do you train AI on my recordings or scripts? A: No. Leelo doesn't train AI models on what you upload or make. Q: How long are my files kept? A: Exports, dubs, clean-ups, sounds and voice changes stay until you delete them. Generated line audio you haven't used is cleared after 7 days on Free, 90 on Starter and 180 on lifetime deals; from Creator up it's kept. Q: Can I delete everything? A: Yes. Delete your account from Settings and your projects, voices, files, players, API keys and team places go. The record of credits used is kept as the billing record. Any subscription is cancelled at the same time, without a refund for the rest of its period. ### Teams Q: Can my team work in the same account? A: On Pro (3 seats) and Business (10 seats) you can invite people into your workspace. They share its projects, voices and credits, and an activity log shows who did what. Q: What roles are there? A: Owner (pays for the plan), admins (invite and remove people) and members (create and edit projects, voices and files with the team's credits). Q: How do invitations work? A: Invite by email from the Team page. The link works for 14 days, only for that address, and also arrives by email. ### API and developers Q: Is there an API? A: Yes, on Pro and Business. Speech, dubbing, transcription, clean-up, sound effects and the writing assistant are all available over a REST API, charged in credits like the app. See [the API](https://leelo-ai.com/api). Q: Are there webhooks? A: Yes. Signed webhooks (HMAC-SHA256) tell your server when dubs, transcripts and exports finish, and when credits run low. Q: Can AI assistants like Claude use Leelo? A: Yes. Leelo's MCP server lets Claude, Cursor and other assistants make speech, dubs, transcripts and sounds with your API key. Setup snippets are in Developers → MCP. Q: Can I put a “listen to this article” player on my site? A: Yes, on every plan. Publish any file as a player, choose light or dark and a colour, and paste one line of HTML. Plays cost nothing. ### Support Q: How do I get help? A: Search the [help centre](https://leelo-ai.com/help), or email support@leelo-ai.com. Inside the app, Help & support in the account menu sends a message with your account attached. A person reads every message and replies within one business day, usually sooner. Q: My StackCommerce code doesn't work. What do I do? A: Redeem it at [/stackcommerce](https://leelo-ai.com/stackcommerce) or in the app under Redeem a code. If it still won't go through, [write to us](https://leelo-ai.com/contact?topic=stackcommerce) with the code's last four characters and your order number. Q: Do you offer volume or enterprise pricing? A: Yes, beyond the Business plan: invoicing, contracts and security reviews. [Tell us what you need](https://leelo-ai.com/contact?topic=volume). ## Help centre ### How credits work (Getting started) Everything in Leelo is paid for in credits. Here's what each thing costs, when credits renew, and what's free. A credit is a word read in a standard voice. Paid plans and lifetime deals give you a number of credits each month; a free account gets 1,000 once, when you sign up. Everything you make is charged from them. #### What things cost - Speech: 1 credit a word in a Core voice, 1.5 in most Pro and Ultra voices, 5 in a few Ultra voices and in a voice of your own. Each voice shows its price in the library. - Writing assistant: 10 credits for every 500 words it works on, at least 10 (a brief or a single line costs 10). - Transcription: 40 credits a minute. - Clean-up and voice changer: 1,300 credits a minute. - Dubbing: 5,000 credits a minute, for each language. - Sound effects: 20 credits a second, at least 100 a sound. - Voice design: 700 credits for three attempts. Cloning your voice is free. Note: Per-minute tools are charged by the second, with a 100-credit minimum a job. In Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Lao, Khmer and Burmese, six characters count as one word. #### What's free - Generating a line again when nothing about it has changed. - Exporting a project, however many times: nothing is generated again. - Plays of an embedded player on your site. #### When credits renew The free plan's 1,000 credits are given once, when you sign up, and don't renew. On a lifetime deal, credits renew on the same day each month as the day you signed up. On a subscription, they renew when the month's payment goes through; on a yearly plan, each month on the day your subscription started. Monthly credits don't roll over: each month starts at the plan's full amount. If you need more before it turns over, a [credit pack](https://leelo-ai.com/help/buy-credit-packs) lasts twelve months. Source: https://leelo-ai.com/help/how-credits-work ### Make your first audio (Getting started) From an empty account to a downloaded MP3 in a few minutes: start a project, write or paste, pick voices, generate, export. 1. Go to Projects and press New project. Choose a mode: Quick (one voice, one block of text), Dialogue (two or more speakers), Audiobook (chapters, one narrator) or Video voiceover (paced to a length). You can also start from a template. 2. Type or paste your script. In the Studio each line is read by one speaker: press Enter for a new line. 3. Click a speaker's name to choose who reads a line, and pick each speaker's voice in the panel on the right. 4. Press Generate. The button says how many lines will be read; a line that hasn't changed is never charged twice. 5. Press Export and choose MP3 or WAV and a loudness. Exports are free. #### The shortest way For one voice reading one block of text, [Quick text to speech](https://leelo-ai.com/app/studio/quick) opens a project with a single box: type, press Generate audio, download. Source: https://leelo-ai.com/help/make-your-first-audio ### Find and choose a voice (Getting started) Search the voice library by language, gender and quality, play samples, and set the voice every new project starts with. #### Searching the library Voices lists every voice with a sample to play. Filter by language, by voice (female, male, neutral) and by quality: Ultra and Pro voices are the most natural and most cost 1.5 credits a word (a few cost 5); Core voices cost 1. Each card shows the price. Ability chips narrow it to voices that support what you need: emotions, pauses and emphasis, pronunciation, pitch, several languages, or word timings. Favourites and the compare tray help you shortlist; favourites are kept in this browser. #### Setting your default voice 1. Open Settings. 2. Under Defaults, choose Voice for new projects. 3. New projects start with it. Clear it to go back to Leelo's choice. Note: Changing a speaker's voice in a project doesn't change your default, and the other way round. Source: https://leelo-ai.com/help/choose-a-voice ### Which plan do I need? (Getting started) What each plan includes, side by side, and how to tell which one fits what you make. Every tool is on every plan; voices of your own (cloning and design) start at Starter. Plans differ in credits, storage, voices you can keep, how long line audio is kept, seats and the API. - Free: 1,000 credits once, to try everything, 200 MB of storage, 0 voices of your own included, line audio 7 days, 1 seat. - Starter ($19 a month): 80,000 credits a month, 5 GB of storage, 1 voice of your own included, line audio 90 days, 1 seat. - Creator ($39 a month): 200,000 credits a month, 25 GB of storage, 3 voices of your own included, line audio kept for good, 1 seat. - Pro ($99 a month): 600,000 credits a month, 100 GB of storage, 10 voices of your own included, line audio kept for good, 3 seats, API. - Business ($299 a month): 2,000,000 credits a month, 500 GB of storage, 30 voices of your own included, line audio kept for good, 10 seats, API. #### A rule of thumb - Trying Leelo out, about seven minutes of narration: Free. - A few videos or episodes a week: Starter or Creator. - Dubbing regularly, a team, or the API: Pro or Business. Note: The [credit calculator](https://leelo-ai.com/pricing#calculator) on the pricing page works it out from what you make. Audio made on a paid plan can be used commercially. Source: https://leelo-ai.com/help/which-plan ### Buy a credit pack (Credits & billing) Packs add credits on top of your plan when you need more before the month turns over. They last twelve months. 1. Open Billing. 2. Under credit packs, press Buy it on the one you want. 3. Pay through Stripe. The credits are added as soon as the payment completes. - 25,000 credits: $9 - 100,000 credits: $29 - 500,000 credits: $119 #### How packs are used A pack is used only when your plan's credits for the month can't cover a job, and it lasts twelve months from the day you buy it. Your plan's monthly credits are always spent first. Note: One job is charged to one pack, so a very large job needs a pack with enough left in it on its own. If you often run short, the next plan up is better value than packs. Source: https://leelo-ai.com/help/buy-credit-packs ### How yearly plans work (Credits & billing) A year costs ten months. Your credits still arrive every month, not all at once. Paying yearly costs ten times the monthly price, so two months are free. You get the plan's credits each month on the day your subscription started, exactly as a monthly subscriber does, and they don't roll over. Choose Yearly with the toggle on the Billing page or the pricing page before you pick a plan. Source: https://leelo-ai.com/help/yearly-plans ### Change or cancel your plan (Credits & billing) Upgrade, downgrade or cancel from Manage subscription. What happens to your work when a plan ends. #### Changing plan 1. Open Billing and choose monthly or yearly. 2. Press Switch to this on the plan you want, and confirm. 3. Your subscription changes at once. The difference is charged to your card, or credited to your next invoice, pro rata, and the new plan's monthly credits apply straight away, less what you've used this month. #### Cancelling 1. Open Billing and press Manage subscription. 2. Cancel in the Stripe page that opens. The plan runs to the end of the period you've paid for. #### When a plan ends - Your projects, voices and files stay in your account. - The account goes back to the free plan, or to your lifetime deal if you have one. - If the new plan keeps line audio for a limited time, download anything you want to keep. - API keys stop working, and a team over the new plan's seats can't generate until it's back within them. Source: https://leelo-ai.com/help/change-or-cancel-plan ### Invoices, receipts and payment methods (Credits & billing) Download invoices and change your card in the billing portal. What happens when a payment fails. 1. Open Billing. 2. Press Manage subscription (or Open billing). 3. Download past invoices, or update your card, in the Stripe page that opens. #### If a payment fails We email you that the payment didn't go through. Update your card in the billing portal and Stripe tries again. Promo codes can be entered at checkout. Note: In a team workspace, billing belongs to the team's owner. Source: https://leelo-ai.com/help/invoices-and-payment ### Refunds and failed jobs (Credits & billing) When credits come back on their own, and how to ask for a refund of a payment. #### Credits that come back on their own - A line that fails to generate. - A writing assistant action that fails. - A transcription or clean-up the provider refuses; otherwise it's settled to the media's real length. - Sound effects: only the sounds actually made are charged. - A voice design that's refused. - A dub that fails, or that hasn't finished after three hours. Note: Stopping a dub yourself doesn't give its credits back: the work was already paid for when it started. #### Refunding a payment Refunds of payments are handled by a person. [Write to us](https://leelo-ai.com/contact?topic=billing) with your account email and what happened, and we'll reply within a business day. Source: https://leelo-ai.com/help/refunds-and-failed-jobs ### Redeem a lifetime deal or coupon (Credits & billing) Activate a StackCommerce code or a coupon, and what a lifetime plan includes. 1. Open Redeem a code from the menu (or go to [/stackcommerce](https://leelo-ai.com/stackcommerce) to sign up and redeem in one step). 2. On the Lifetime deal tab, enter your code and press Activate lifetime deal. 3. Coupons go on the Coupon tab; an account can use up to three. #### What a lifetime plan includes - Lifetime Basic: 35,000 credits every month, 2 GB, 1 voice of your own, line audio kept 180 days. - Lifetime Pro: 80,000 credits every month, 5 GB, 2 voices of your own, line audio kept 180 days. Note: Lifetime credits renew monthly and don't roll over. A subscription adds its credits on top, and the lifetime plan stays when the subscription ends. Code not working? [Tell us](https://leelo-ai.com/contact?topic=stackcommerce). Source: https://leelo-ai.com/help/redeem-lifetime-deal ### Running low on credits (Credits & billing) How Leelo warns you, what happens at zero, and your options until the month turns over. You get a notification when less than a tenth of your credits are left, and another when they run out. Usage shows what's left and where it went. At zero, nothing new can be generated, but everything you've made stays playable and downloadable. Exports still work, because they're free. - On a paid plan or a lifetime deal, wait for the month to turn over. Free credits don't renew. - [Buy a pack](https://leelo-ai.com/help/buy-credit-packs), which lasts twelve months. - Move to a [bigger plan](https://leelo-ai.com/help/which-plan). Source: https://leelo-ai.com/help/running-low-on-credits ### Quick, Dialogue, Audiobook and Video modes (The Studio) What each Studio mode is for, and how to switch between them without losing anything. - Quick: one voice, one block of text, with speed and pitch. The fastest way to a file. - Dialogue: two or more speakers, a line each. The default. - Audiobook: chapters, an opening and closing credits, a retail sample, and an M4B export. - Video voiceover: lines placed at times, a target length, and subtitles in and out. #### Switching Use the mode tabs in the project's header. Switching to Quick keeps only the first line on screen; the others are hidden, not deleted, and come back when you switch out again. Note: Writing a script, pasting a document and the selection toolbar's Rewrite and Translate aren't in Quick mode. Source: https://leelo-ai.com/help/studio-modes ### Write and edit lines and speakers (The Studio) How lines work in the Studio, giving each one a speaker, and the keys that make editing fast. #### Lines - Enter starts a new line; Shift+Enter breaks within a line; Backspace on an empty line deletes it. - A line's More menu: start a chapter here, add a line below, split at the cursor, duplicate, delete. - Pause after sets the silence after a line: none to 2 seconds (0.3 s by default). #### Speakers Click the speaker's name on a line to choose who reads it, or to move all of one speaker's lines to another. In the outline, add, rename or remove speakers and change their voices. A speaker who still has lines can't be removed. Note: A project holds up to 2,000 lines and 16 speakers. Press ? anywhere for keyboard shortcuts. Source: https://leelo-ai.com/help/write-and-edit-lines ### Direct how a line is read (The Studio) Emotion, speed, pitch and free-text direction for a speaker, and emphasis, pauses and 'say as' for single words. #### For a speaker The panel on the right sets a speaker's delivery: a default emotion, intensity, speed, pitch, consistency, and Direct the voice for direction in your own words. Controls appear only when the voice supports them. #### For a few words Select words in a line and the toolbar offers: - Emphasis: strong, moderate or softer. - Say as: a number, a position, letter by letter, a date, a time, a phone number, money, a fraction, an address, a name. - Pronunciation (phonetic) and Read as (say other words instead). - Emotion, speed and pitch for just these words, their language, and a pause after them. Note: Some voices ignore marks, including voices of your own; the toolbar says so with “not on this voice”. Source: https://leelo-ai.com/help/direct-the-delivery ### Fix how a word is pronounced (The Studio) Teach Leelo a name or term once in the pronunciation dictionary, or fix it in one place with a mark. #### Everywhere: the dictionary 1. Open Pronunciation from the menu and press Add a word. 2. Type the word, then how to say it: other words that sound right (Say it like), or phonemes in IPA. 3. It applies to every project from then on. Note: Matching ignores capitals and prefers the longest term, so “Leelo AI” wins over “Leelo”. Up to 500 entries. #### Just here: a mark Select the word in a line and use Pronunciation or Read as in the toolbar. Source: https://leelo-ai.com/help/pronunciation ### Keep and compare takes (The Studio) Generate a line more than once, compare the readings, and choose the one to use. Select a line and press New take in the panel. Each take is charged like any generation, up to five a line. Click a take to use it, Compare plays them in turn, and the bin removes one. New take is offered when the voice reads differently each time or when the words or direction have changed. A take made from earlier words is marked “older words”. Source: https://leelo-ai.com/help/takes ### Add music and sound effects to a project (The Studio) Put sounds you made, or files from your computer, on the Sounds lane under the voices. 1. On the timeline, press + Sound. It's placed at the playhead. 2. Choose from Your sounds (made in the Sound effects tool) or From device (MP3 or WAV, up to 50 MB and 15 minutes). 3. Set each clip's level, trim, fades, Duck (it dips under the voices) and Loop. Note: Adding a sound is free. Sounds can be added to projects under 30 minutes long; a project holds up to 50 clips. Source: https://leelo-ai.com/help/add-sounds-and-music ### Bring in a document or web page (The Studio) Turn a Word file, EPUB, PDF, text file or web page into lines, with chapters and speakers worked out for you. 1. In a project (not Quick mode), press Paste a document. 2. Open a file (.docx, EPUB, PDF, .txt or .md, up to 30 MB), give a web page's address, or paste. 3. Choose how it's split: a line a sentence, headings start chapters, “Name:” names a voice. 4. Add after the lines you have, or replace the script, and press Bring it in. Note: Files are read in your browser. PDFs come in without their headings. Up to 2,000 lines. Source: https://leelo-ai.com/help/import-a-document ### Export audio, subtitles and stems (The Studio) Formats, quality and loudness for a finished file, plus subtitles, a transcript, and a file per voice. - Format: MP3 or WAV, and M4B (with chapters) in Audiobook mode. - Quality: 128, 192 or 320 kbps; WAV is 48 kHz, 16-bit. - Loudness: Podcast (−16 LUFS), Audiobook/ACX (−20), Broadcast (−23), or as generated. - Also: subtitles (SRT and VTT) and a plain-text transcript. Note: Exports are free and can be made as often as you like. One export holds up to 500 lines; export a long book chapter by chapter. #### Stems Stems gives one full-length WAV per voice, plus one for the sounds, lined up to mix in your own editor. Source: https://leelo-ai.com/help/export-audio ### Make an audiobook with chapters (The Studio) Chapters, opening and closing credits, a retail sample, ACX loudness and M4B export. 1. Start an Audiobook project, or switch an existing one to Audiobook mode. 2. Bring in the manuscript with Paste a document; with “headings start chapters” on, each heading becomes a chapter. 3. Read a chapter at a time with Read this chapter, or generate the whole book. 4. Add opening and closing credits with Credits, and make a retail sample with Sample. 5. Export Every chapter (one MP3 a chapter, at −20 LUFS by default) or one M4B with chapters. Note: The export dialog runs an ACX check. Use Video mode. 2. Press Match to picture and paste or open an SRT or VTT, or one timecode per line. Each line is placed at its time. 3. Set Target and press Fit to change the pace and pauses so the script runs that long; the lines then need generating again. 4. Drag lines on the timeline to nudge them; this works in every mode. A line can start later than the one before ends, never earlier. Double-click a line to put it back right after the one before. Open Voice design and press Design a voice. 2. Describe it in 20 to 1,000 characters: age, accent, tone, pace, character. 3. Choose the language it speaks and press Design it. Three attempts come back to play. 4. Press Keep this voice on the one you want. It joins your voices. Note: Each design costs 700 credits; Try again designs three more. Open Voice cloning. 2. Record, or upload up to five recordings (25 MB in all): a minute or two of clear speech is enough. 3. Tick the consent box: you are the speaker, or have the speaker's permission. 4. [Clean up](https://leelo-ai.com/help/clean-up-audio) a noisy recording first. Note: Cloning needs Starter or above, and costs no credits. Speech in your own voice costs 5 credits a word, and own voices ignore marks such as emphasis (pauses are kept as silence). The consent is kept with the voice; the recording is deleted with it. Source: https://leelo-ai.com/help/clone-your-voice ### Keeping voices of your own (Voices) How many cloned or designed voices your plan includes, and what extra ones cost. Each plan includes some voices of your own: Free 0, Starter 1, Creator 3, Pro 10, Business 30. Each voice beyond that costs 2,000 credits a month, taken when your month renews. Delete a voice you no longer use from your voices list. Deleting it also removes it at the voice provider. The credits come back if it fails, and it handles up to 5,000 words at once. Not in Quick mode. Source: https://leelo-ai.com/help/writing-assistant ### Files, storage and how long things are kept (Account & team) Where exports, dubs, clean-ups and sounds live, how long line audio is kept on each plan, and storage limits. Files lists your exports, clean-ups, dubs, sounds and voice changes, to play, download or delete. Deleting a file deletes the audio. Exports, dubs, clean-ups, sounds and voice changes stay until you delete them. Generated line audio that hasn't been used is cleared after a while on some plans: Free 7 days, Starter 90, lifetime deals 180; from Creator up it's kept. #### Storage Each plan has room for a set amount (see [plans](https://leelo-ai.com/help/which-plan)). Usage warns you at 85%; when it's full, new work waits until you free up space or move up a plan. Source: https://leelo-ai.com/help/files-and-storage ### Invite your team (Account & team) Seats, invitations, roles and the activity log on Pro and Business: how to invite people and what owners, admins and members can do. Source: https://leelo-ai.com/help/account-settings ### Delete your account (Account & team) How to delete your Leelo account: what deleting removes, what's kept as the billing record, and what to download or cancel first. 1. Any subscription is cancelled when the account is deleted, and the rest of its period isn't refunded. 2. Download anything you want to keep. 3. In Settings, choose to delete your account and type DELETE. Note: Your projects, voices, files, players, API keys and team membership are removed, and voices you cloned or designed are deleted at the voice provider too. Note: Up to 10 keys. 120 requests a minute per key; past that you get 429 with Retry-After. Keys are for your own workspace, not a team's. Every route and its cost: [the API page](https://leelo-ai.com/api). Source: https://leelo-ai.com/help/api-keys ### Receive webhooks (API & developers) Get told when dubs, transcripts and exports finish, and verify that it was Leelo that sent it. Add an endpoint in Developers → Webhooks and choose events: dub.completed, dub.failed, transcription.completed, export.completed, credits.low, credits.depleted, or all of them. Up to 10 endpoints. #### Verifying Each delivery has a Leelo-Signature header, t=…,v1=…: an HMAC-SHA256 of the timestamp, a full stop and the raw body, made with your endpoint's whsec_ secret. Recompute it, compare, and refuse anything older than five minutes. Leelo-Event and Leelo-Delivery name the event and the delivery. Note: A failed delivery is retried after 1, 5, 30, 120, 360, 720 and 1,440 minutes, then marked failed. Source: https://leelo-ai.com/help/webhooks ### Use Leelo from Claude and other AI assistants (API & developers) Connect Leelo's MCP server so an assistant can make speech, dubs and transcripts for you. 1. Make an API key (Pro or Business). 2. Open Developers → MCP and copy the snippet for your assistant: Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor or Windsurf. 3. Ask in plain words, such as “read this in Ava's voice and send me the file”. Note: The assistant uses tools such as generate_speech, transcribe, start_dub, make_sound_effect, clean_up_audio and rewrite_text, charged to your credits like anything else. Source: https://leelo-ai.com/help/mcp-server ### Put a player on your website (API & developers) Publish any file as a player, style it, and paste one line of HTML into your site. 1. Open Developers → Embed player and press Put a player on your site. 2. Pick a file (an export, dub, clean-up or sound, up to 200 MB) and set a title, light or dark, and an accent colour. 3. Press Publish player and Copy embed code: an iframe to paste into your page. Note: On every plan, and plays cost nothing; plays are counted. The player plays the original file, so deleting the file stops the player.
